Do you know the difference between Session Conversion Rate and User Conversion rate in GA4. Yes, they both are different and optimizing with wrong numbers can be a disaster for your revenue graph. 

✅User Conversion Rate – The User conversion rate represents the percentage of users who triggered any conversion event.
✅Session Conversion Rate – The Session conversion rate represents the percentage of sessions in which any conversion event took place.

Let’s take an example of two user
🤵USER A – Three Session with Two Conversion session 
👲USER B – Three Session with No Conversion Session 

Session Conversion Rate = Total Number of Converted Session with any Conversion event/ Total Session =2/6=33.33%

User Conversion Rate = User who triggered any Conversion Event/Total Number of User = 1/2=50%

How to check Session Conversion Rate and User Conversion Rate on GA4 Reports?

Now you can use metrics on all the acquisitions report for all the channels, session and medium.

However GA4 gives you both option in their present version of GA. Now you can check total event conversion session with respect to total sessions, also you can analyse user conversion event with respect to Total User of the website.

Basic idea is to get the conversion session as compared to total session on the website.

Accordingly any action or valuable action on the website can be considered as GA4 Events Conversion. Conversion can be tracked as someone view your item page, submit form, purchase or scroll through the website.

How to add Session Conversion Rate in your Acquisition Report?

Use these step by step tutorial to add session conversion rate in your acquisition report.

  1. Open GA 4 Report tab by clicking on reports in first vertical menu.
  2. Click on acquisition tab on second vertical menu and then click on traffic acquisition to get the full view of default channel group.
  3. Click on edit (pencil button) on the right side of the window screen.
  4. Click on metrics and add “session conversion rate” with help of search bar.
  5. Save it and apply changes on the applied reports.

How to add Session CVR in your Exploration Report?

Use these step bye step tutorial to add session conversion rate in your exploration report.

  1. Open GA4 Explore tab by clicking on explore in first vertical menu.

  3. Use Variable menu & Add Segment with User audience. ( For Segment read more)
  4. On variable menu Add Dimension ( You can add e.g Acquisition, session, session/medium, device category, item name etc)
  5. On variable menu Add Metrics ( e.g Sessions, Conversion, Session CVR etc)
  6. Use Free form on tab to have a table format analytical report.
  7. Add Segment in the segment comparison.
  8. Add dimension in the row column (you can easily increase the rows upto 500)
  9. Add all the metrics in the value by just drag and drop from variable menu to tab menu
  10. Report will be generated on the right side of the variable and tab menu.
